The Sharpie and I.

Some conceptual sketches of my design.
Entry, massing, circulation
are just some elements
running through my mind during these sketches...

Concept redefined.

In my previous post, I mentioned the abstract perspective of infinity being boundless and endless with inconsistent forms.

However, through more brainstorming I redefined my concept of infinity.

Infinity is my starting my point, curvilinear forms such as organic architecture my goal.

The Mobius Strip is a similar geometry that can become organic and represent the infinitude.

I put together a collage once again to aid my concept development process.

Infinity.

Infinity, in a literal sense can represent an infinite quantity (numerically) or the quality of something going in a continious manner (directionally).

The abstract perspective of infinity is what I am really aiming for.

This abstract thinking can percieve inifinityas being boundless, endless and having a inconsistent form.

This relates to the program design in such:

Art has no limitations nor boundaries.

Architecture in itself has no limit, to aid my thinking process once again I compiled another collage.

To site or not to site.

We were given a choice of two sites :

42 Main Street, Brooklyn and 27 Peck Slip, Manhattan

As a personal perference I decided to choose the Manhattan site, reason being I believe the open area of the site can be used to my advantage. Though the site dimensions are similar to that of Brooklyn, I found that the open area, nearby stores and historic district to be of my interest the most. I hope this works for my best interest for my art center design.

"Parti" first, party later.

After knowing my building specialty of an art center, though I remain unclear of which form of art it will greatly emphasis on or if it would emphasize on all forms of art...

My first initial idea that popped into my head was the term "infinity".

Without having a reason, the word infinity and the actual symbol appealed to me the most. I knew this was a starting point to begin my brainstorming of the vague idea of "infinity".

Consequently, I compiled a form of imagery in a collage format to aid my thought process.
